The Eight Limbs

"How can one deal with this suffering?" I asked.

Wheel of Life Bhante’s forehead creased slightly, "Suffering ceases when craving is stilled or removed. Then follows perfect peace or happiness — that is, the cessation of all suffering. This is the third Noble Truth.

"And the fourth truth is the path which leads to the cessation of suffering. This path consists of eight factors or eight limbs:

1 Right Understanding

5 Right Livelihood

2 Right Thought

6 Right Effort

3 Right Speech

7 Right Mindfulness

4 Right Action

8 Right Concentration

"These are the eight factors of Buddhism in practice," Bhante smiled, then went on.
